Six DePaul programs were recognized with Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having multi-year Academic Performance Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement.
"We are very proud to have four of our programs receive the NCAA's Public Recognition Award this year", UA Director of Athletics Greg Byrne said. Since the April program was put into place, the three Villanova programs which have earned public recognition awards most often are women's track & field (10 recognition awards), golf and men's tennis (nine recognition awards each).
Altogether Baylor has received 19 public April awards in seven different sports, including baseball (2007, 2012, 2018), men's basketball (2009, 2018), men's cross country (2006, 2011), men's golf (2010), women's golf (2009, 2010, 2015) soccer (2018) and softball (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018).
The golf and softball teams were honored for the 12th time in 13 years while men's cross country achieved the recognition for the fifth straight year. The latest data is yet another indicator of across-the-board student-athlete success at Villanova.
The Arkansas Gymnastics program was honored with an NCAA Public Recognition Award for the fourth time. The NCAA recognized 14 Notre Dame programs in 2010 and 2009, 11 in both 2008 and 2007 and 14 in 2006. Women's golf has earned the award each of its first four seasons of existence.
April was devised to measure eligibility, graduation and retention each semester.
2016-1. Stanford 17; 2. Penn State ranks No. 4 among all Division I schools with 200 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans all-time, including Emily Ogle (women's soccer) and Haleigh Washington (women's volleyball) during the 2017 fall semester.
Clemson is the only school in the nation to earn recognition in baseball, men's basketball and football, and the only school in the ACC to be recognized for rowing.
All Division I programs' April scores will be released publicly on May 23.
