The wife of former U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover was arrested Saturday in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. for allegedly attacking Glover's mother during an altercation after he missed the 54-hole cut at The Players Championship.
"Lucas advised me every time he plays poorly in a tournament, Krista begins yelling at him, stating he is a "loser" and "p*ssy" and ultimately starting an altercation with him about his performance", the report said.
Deputies, however, noted in their reports there were fresh lacerations to Lucas' right arm and "multiple lacerations" to both his 62-year-old mother Hershey Glover's arms, as well as blood on her clothes.
Glover won the 2009 U.S. Open and has two other career PGA wins, with the most recent coming at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2011. It also states that Krista Glover "allegedly went off on him at dinner time and showered him with insults" after he finished +6 during the tournament's third round. Each charge carries a sentence of up to a year in jail.
According to the report, Glover's wife fought against being put into the back seat of a patrol auto and damaged the door by repeatedly kicking it.
Lucas told deputies how 'when he plays a bad round of golf, Krista proceeds to start an altercation with him and telling him how he is a loser and a p***y, how he needs to fire everyone, and how he'd better win or her and the kids would leave him and he would never see the kids again, ' the report reads. She reportedly attempted to wrap her legs around the auto door, but deputies were able to push her in. The report noted, however, she had no visible injuries.
"Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened", the statement said in part.
Hershey Glover, the golfer's mother, allegedly attempted to intervene on her son's behalf. "We thank you for respecting our privacy as we work through this unfortunate situation".
After deputies handcuffed Krista Glover, she became combative and tried to separate herself from the arresting deputy, the report says. 'You will lose your job.
