In another part of his tweet, Iran's top diplomat pointed to the move by Donald Trump to transfer the USA embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds despite global outcry against the move, saying while Israel continues its brutal crackdown on Palestinians "Trump celebrates move of us illegal embassy and his Arab collaborators move to divert attention".

Violence continued throughout Monday as Hamas-led protesters lobbed Molotov cocktails on Israelis at the Gaza border fence as the U.S. Embassy opened in Jerusalem, The Guardian reported.

Politicians and dignitaries including Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner watched as US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin unveiled the US seal, turning what was formally the consulate building into the Embassy.

Thousands of Palestinians closed in on Israel's border to protest the divisive decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The ministry's spokesman Bahram Qassemi described the events in Gaza as the "killing of dozens of Palestinians" and an "unprecedented brutal massacre", stating that the demonstrations in Gaza were peaceful, the ministry said.

"This provocation will only worsen the problems in the region and cause a deeper mark in the Israeli-Palestinian relationship, and will make peace in the region more hard", Yildirim added.

The organization has been treating victims of the violence since the protests began last month, but Ingres said that the doctors have been overwhelmed by the number of people needing care: "Our teams carried out more than 30 surgical interventions today, sometimes on two or three patients in the same operating theater, and even in the corridors".

The inauguration followed Trump's December 6 recognition of the disputed city as Israel's capital.

The relocation of the USA embassy from Tel Aviv has infuriated Palestinians, who also claim Jerusalem as their capital. "Worse than the first Friday (of the Gaza protests) and we're expecting it to be as bad tomorrow", Abu Sitteh said.

South Africa and Turkey have recalled their ambassadors to Israel and the USA for "consultations".

Since 1967, Israel has built a dozen settlements, home to about 200,000 Jews, in East Jerusalem. The decision fueled unrest across the Middle East and has been condemned by the majority of the worldwide community.

The party said South Africa "must expel Israel's ambassadors with immediate effect", until Israel ends its illegal occupation of Palestine.
