Meghan Markle's father may not attend royal wedding

A spokesman said: "This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding". The statement did not confirm or deny speculation surrounding his attendance. On Monday night the palace issued a statement asking for Thomas Markle's privacy to be respected, just hours after issuing another cease and desist letter to national newspapers.

The report stated he grew to regret the photos and decided not to attend the wedding as not to embarrass the royal family or his daughter.

CCTV footage obtained by The Mail on Sunday shows L.A. -based photographer Jeff Rayner coaching Markle on the shot at the Omega Internet Café in Rosarito, Mexico.

Samantha Markle, the actress's half-sister, told the Good Morning Britain TV programme she hoped he would still be there but it depended on his health.

What a unusual thing to mention, that no one covering Meghan and her family had even noticed... we don't want to suggest it's some kind of play for sympathy, but... well...

She tweeted: "The media was unfairly making him look bad so I suggested he do positive photos for his benefit and the benefit of the royal family. It was not for money".

Some of the soldiers who trained and served with the Prince will be supporting him on his wedding day, either riding in the escort or lining the steps of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle where the marriage service will take place. "I merely wanted him to be seen in a respectable light - I didn't feel that was being done".

Harry will be joined by his brother and best man, Prince William at the lavish Coworth Park Hotel, while Meghan and her mother will stay at the Cliveden House Hotel.


He and Ms Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, divorced when Ms Markle was six years old. It is highly unlikely the high-profile wedding, with more than 600 guests ready to attend and food preparation already underway, would be postponed due to Thomas Markle's surgery.

Mr Markle is also reported to have suffered a heart attack in recent days.

Mr Markle is a retired Emmy-award winning lighting director, who worked on shows such as General Hospital.

They will be pulling the couple's carriage of choice an Ascot Landau along with another four horses during the procession.
