'I'm staying away from Meghan's big day', says dad

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Monday night issued a statement asking for "understanding and respect" for Thomas Markle.

In an interview with Vanity Fair on Monday, TMZ's Sean Mandell said: "I spoke to Thomas Markle today, we have both texted and had a phone call". He's a quiet man.

There are still no news on who will walk Meghan down the aisle and we hope that this is not causing the bride additional stress. The couple rented a four-bedroom cottage in the Cotswolds in southwest England, a rural area of the country that Meghan is said to adore. Other candidates include: Prince Charles, Prince Philip and Prince William.

Meghan Markle's father will not attend her wedding to Prince Harry this weekend, USA media reported Monday, as Kensington Palace pleaded for "understanding and respect" for the couple during a "difficult situation".

It was claimed he had checked himself out of hospital to be able to fly to the United Kingdom before changing his mind in light of the latest developments.

The pictures show a lonely Mr Markle browsing images of his daughter and Prince Harry in an internet cafe, lifting weights to get in shape for the wedding, and being fitted for a suit for the big day.

Doubts that Thomas Markle Sr (73) would give his daughter away on Saturday followed claims by USA celebrity website, TMZ, that he was pulling out amid allegations he co-operated with a Los Angeles based photo agency to stage pictures of himself preparing for the wedding day.

Backtracking on his statements the day before, Thomas Markle told TMZ on Tuesday that he has made a decision to go to the wedding after speaking with his daughter.

Kensington Palace had announced earlier this month that Markle Sr, a retired television lighting engineer who lives in Mexico, would walk his daughter to the altar at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, where she will marry Prince Harry on Saturday in front of 600 guests and an worldwide television audience of millions.

If Miss Markle's father is not at the wedding, it is believed Miss Ragland will walk her down the aisle. Markle revealed to TMZ that, as of Tuesday, he was back in the hospital due to severe chest pains from the heart attack he'd suffered a week ago. In an effort not to embarrass his daughter or the the royal family, he says, Thomas Markle told the outlet he won't be attending the royal wedding.

One person who definitely won't be there is Bajan beauty Rihanna, who gave a hilarious response when asked if she would be attending the 19 May event.

Thomas Markle, who lives in a retirement community just south of the USA border in Mexico, told TMZ he's been ambushed by paparazzi who have photographed him in the most unflattering circumstances, including buying beer and looking disheveled. He said he was buying the beer for security guards at the retirement community where he lives. Speculation in the media is leaning towards Ralph & Russo who designed the dress Markle wore for her engagement photos and the research, which was conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com, ranked Ralph & Russo as number three. He figured that doing the photos would recast his image as an adoring father; he also said he didn't earn anywhere near $100,000 for his participation in the shoots.

Meghan Markle's family won't stop bringing the drama to the royal wedding.

Last night U.S. gossip website TMZ claimed to have spoken "on the record" to Miss Markle's father, who confirmed he had worked with the freelance photographer to set up images of him being measured for his wedding suit and searching online for articles about his daughter.

She has also been helping Markle with some of the wedding planning. The less formal approach will allow the 600 guests to mingle and make the the occasion less fussy.

"I feel that the media have unfairly preyed on him so he, I think he's really been admirable about laying low and not speaking out", Samantha added.
