Conte Mocks Mourinho Ahead Of FA Cup Clash

The FA Cup finalists travel to Newcastle tomorrow with a full squad but retaining only faint hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Conte revealed that Thibaut Courtois had trained with the side and is in contention to make the trip to St. James' Park for the season finale, having missed the disappointing draw to Huddersfield Town with a back injury.

"For this I am the first person to answer for this as I am the coach of this team and after a game like this I am the first person to answer".

Whilst Conte is not entirely responsible for our downfall, the Italian's attitude has been far from professional in recent times and his negative approach to games have also cost the team.

The final day of the Premier League season was always likely to end in disappointment for Chelsea, but the manner of their surrender to Newcastle provided a fitting end to an utterly miserable 2018 for Antonio Conte.

Chelsea FC will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.

Even the FA Cup would not render this season a success for Chelsea, but Conte will have been concerned by the total lack of appetite shown by his players.

Olivier Giroud has scored eight goals in nine Premier League games against Newcastle, more than against any other opponent. The Magpies have lost four straight games scoring only one goal. It would be just like Chelsea to put in a silky performance this week, but they have not done that often enough this season.

Chelsea have been a shadow of last season's vintage in attack throughout this campaign, but it was their hapless defending that will most concern Conte. Newcastle have enjoyed a fairly strong return to the Premier League under Rafa Benitez and will head into Sunday's match with safety confirmed and a chance to spoil any potential Chelsea party.

"For the next game, for sure we must change". Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich does not do the Europa League. There are six top teams at the start of the season ready to fight for a place in the Champions League.

"I am working with my players this season and it is not right to say something about this".

The Chelsea boss holding his hands up: 'From the start, Newcastle outplayed us in every way...they deserved to win'. The Blues have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season after finishing outside the top 4 in the Premier League table. And while fifth is better than 10, Chelsea are only a point closer to the champions than they were two years ago.

"I still have one year left on my contract", he said.
