Having featured in less than half of Burnley's games this season, Arfield is out of contract at Turf Moor this summer and while he didn't play any part in Sunday's defeat to Bournemouth, the 29-year-old did join his teammates for a lap of honour and was given a terrific ovation by supporters.
"I fully believe I can handle the expectation at a club like this".
There's immediately been plenty of speculation as to who Gerrard's first addition would be, with several of his former Liverpool colleagues tipped to make the switch to Ibrox. "When a club of this magnitude comes in for you it is a no brainer".
"I think with the size of this club you know how big it's going to be and I'm here now to try and implement that in the dressing room".
"I'm excited to work with Steven Gerrard - if you don't get excited by that you shouldn't walk through the front door".
"I'm really, really excited about it and so is Steven".
"The stature of him suits a club of this stature".
"I was lucky enough to play against him (Gerrard) and it was one of the highlights of my career".
When asked about his memories of facing Gerrard, he said: "Getting beat, getting overrun, and I remember coming off the pitch thinking I'm not as good as I first thought".
After five seasons at Burnley, Arfield arrives with a wealth of experience for a Rangers side looking to mount a serious challenge to arch rivals Celtic.
'It is just an absolute dream, ' Arfield said. "It was the flawless time to leave".
