Police Unity Tour Honors Fallen Officers

They ride for five Provo officers that are on the Wall of Honor at the Provo Police Department: Albert O.H. Bowen, William Strong, Frank J. Tucker, Norman Kim Nisson, Trent Hallady.

About 2,500 officers will be riding to Washington, D.C.to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Remembering fallen officers was the objective of a special ceremony held in Kinston Thursday. Sheriff's Office will be remembered during Police Week services being held Tuesday, May 15 at 6 p.m.

The names of all 360 fallen officers nationwide will be formally dedicated during the 30th Annual Candlelight Vigil on the evening of May 13 on the National Mall between 4th and 7th streets.

Concerns of Police Survivors, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.


Rocky Mount police Capt. George Robinson said a law enforcement officer can go from helping someone with auto problems to a violent encounter in a matter of seconds.

On average, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every (61) hours.

- 11:15 a.m. May 18: Ceremony to honor fallen officers, especially Champaign officers Thomas Dodsworth and Robert Tatman, at Champaign Police and Fire Memorial in West Side Park.

"This is just a chance for us to show our respect for what they did to sacrifice [their lives]", Sergeant Al Noles, with the Grand Rapids Police Department said.
