And then we have Asus' new Flipkart-exclusive Zenfone Max Pro M1, one of the first phones under Asus-Flipkart mega partnership. The global launch event is scheduled for April 23 in New Delhi, where the Taiwanese giant will be announcing the smartphone. Further, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 packs a massive 5000mAh battery and runs on stock Android Oreo, which is something very rare for the price segment apart from phones like Moto G5S. This means that it is a direct competitor of the highly popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro will be available in three variants in India, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, another with 4GB RAM and 64GB and a third variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and upgraded cameras. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is a mid-budget device, expected to compete with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

One of the biggest issues the Zenfone range has faced ever since the first generation of the smartphone, is the cluttered ZenUI layer. ASUS has gone ahead and confirmed that the phone would be updated to two subsequent versions of Android as well. The phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and curved 2.5D glass on the front with on-screen navigation keys. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro offers a rear dual camera unit and also a FullView display of 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro is also only the second smartphone running on the Snapdragon 636 chipset to be launched in India. There is also a microSD card support of up to 2GB. The smartphone comes with a five-magnet speaker and NXP smart amplifier. Its worth noting that Asus has baked in a triple tray slot that accommodates dual SIM cards and also offers a dedicated microSD card slot.

Coming to the cameras, Zenfone Max Pro M1 will feature dual 16MP snappers at the back with LED Flash. There's also a no-cost EMI offer on the Zenfone Max Pro M1. Furthermore, the battery is rated to offer 42 hours of talk time on the 3G network and up to 199 hours of music playback.

The prices of the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro in India are as follows. The front of the device houses an 8MP selfie camera with LED flash with Snapdragon camera app interface, another feature another first feature for Asus.

The company also announced that a higher-spec ZenFone Max Pro M1 with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage will be available from May 3 at a price point of Rs. 14,999.
