Woman set on fire by husband, mother-in-law dies two days on


In a shocking incident which came into light today, a 19-year-old girl who is a student of 11th standard was.

The police said the woman was medically examined and the doctors revealed that she had sustained injuries in her private parts, legs and arms.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) took notice of the incident and directed the District Police Officer (DPO) to present report in 24-hours. The victim ran out of the house and the neighbours tried to douse the flames. He forcibly took the victim on the gun point along with him to his residence in the Aman Vihar area of Delhi on 30th of March. The girl said she got home from school and found both the front and back doors locked, and the back door was barricaded, according to a criminal complaint.

The woman surprised her husband and his new wife with an awesome party.

They knew of the torture the woman suffered and had intervened on several occasions in the past, the officials said. "She said that she was unconscious thereafter", the officer told TOI. The teenager says she fled captivity on April 9. The police have registered a case under sections 345D (stalking) 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 344 (wrongful confinement for ten or more days), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code. "I have been undergoing through severe pain", cried the expectant mother.
