Costa Set To Miss Arsenal, Atletico Europa Cup Clash

In addition to the Champions League semifinal draw on Friday, the Europa League semi draw also took place with the two biggest contenders remaining in the cup facing off in the semifinals.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal face Atletico in their semi-final first-leg on April 26 (8.05pm) with the return leg a week later in the Spanish capital, on May 3.

Atletico are favourites to continue Spain's recent success in the competition and go to lift the Europa League trophy after reaching their third successive European semi-final, where they will face Arsenal.

They overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals to prevail 5-2 in the return date and keep their dreams alive.

Sitting in second spot in La Liga behind Barcelona, Simeone's men are a playing below their level in the second tier European tournament.

"Everybody speaks about Atletico Madrid that they look the strongest team on paper", he said, but he also described Marseille as a hard place to go.

"I am from France and Marseille are in there as well and that is always a hard place to go... maybe it is better that I don't wish for anybody".

"This is the season where I am learning most about being a coach and improving".

"You need to keep the progression".

The final is in Lyon, France on Wednesday, 16 May, with the victor guaranteed a spot in next season's Champions League.

"We live with the reality, and that is the Europa League". So we play in it with enthusiasm.

"This is another opportunity to add a great trophy to the cabinet".
