Each of the games in the collection has gotten some degree of visual polish, like optional smoothing and CRT filters for the sprite-based games and 3D models getting sharpened for later ones.
Both titles will launch on July 24 for Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC.
On top of all of those things, there is also a new mode called X Challenge in which players will be able to face off against two bosses at once.
First it's clarified that, even though the collection is titled "1 + 2" both "parts" will be released simultaneously and bundled together physically.
You can purchase each collection individually for $19.99 when they release on July 24th. The games can also be switched to widescreen mode, or played full screen without affecting the aspect ratios. For Nintendo Switch, the pack will include one cartridge with the first collection as well as a digital download voucher for the second collection. In North America, fans can also find Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 for consoles, a combo pack that includes a disc for each collection on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You can choose up to three weapons to take into battle with you, or challenge yourself with a buster-only run.
The X Collection will feature The Day of Σ, which explores the origin of Sigma and the rise of the Mavericks before the events of the original Mega Man X. With additional leaderboard support, you'll be able to compare your best time and see how you stack up!
