Multiple teams reported to have interest in Malcolm Butler

In 2016, he had four interceptions and was a first-team All-Pro on Pro Football Focus.

It's the next step on a four-year career that's included three Super Bowl appearances. But the corner will best be remembered for his unforgettable game-sealing interception (and several other great plays) in a Super Bowl XLIX win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Derek Simpson told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Butler will sign the deal including $30 million guaranteed once free agency begins. His strong 2017 season - in which he didn't elevate to the lead role at running back until Week 7 - put him in position to earn it. That's what made Super Bowl LII even more head scratching. Instead, he signed for a below-market one-year, $3.9 million tender that would allow him full-fledged free agency this spring. Interestingly, Butler was beaten twice for touchdowns by rookie wide receiver Corey Davis in the Patriots' divisional-round victory over the Titans.

"Butler's durability was impressive in his time with the Patriots, as he played 98.8 percent of the defensive snaps in 2015, followed by 96.7 and 97.8 in the next two seasons".

Butler went undrafted in 2014 and worked his way up to become a top cornerback with the Patriots. Butler will also get his chance at revenge when the Patriots take on the Titans, in Tennessee, next season. Butler played alongside Ryan and signed under Robinson, formerly Bill Belichick's director of college scouting. Second-round pick Cyrus Jones returns after ACL surgery. Although Butler's end story with the Patriots wasn't pretty, he won't be an easy guy to replace on the field.
