The Ford Mustang GT California Special is back this summer!

The California Special has a trademark fading stripe from the 5.0 badge to the rear fender scoop that fades as it moves back.

Ford says the California Special Mustang will be available in a variety of vibrant-looking paint jobs including, crucially, the same Dark Highland Green that comes on the Bullitt.

This is just some of the features Ford will be offering on the Mustang for 2019. The special gets its own wheel design and a black and red California Special badge on the trunk lid. The next CS will get the 5.0-liter V8, a manual or automatic transmission and a few other unique pieces. The rev-matching mimics heel-and-toe action by matching RPM when downshifting, which is beneficial when preparing for a turn.

The 2019 Mustang will also have the option of a Bang & Olufsen PLAY audio system.

Also on the tech side is the B&O Play 1,000-watt sound system with 12 speakers and a 10-channel amplifier.

Power and torque remain the same 460 hp/420 lb-ft as the regular 2018 Ford Mustang GT.

Ford let out the world's worst-kept secret Sunday night, revealing the 2019 Mustang Bullitt before its debut at the Detroit auto show.

Now, this Ford-patented fully variable active valve performance exhaust brings an aggressive snarl to 2019 Mustang EcoBoost models. Drivers can control the system via the drive mode selector or through the instrument panel. "While colors like Shadow Black and Magnetic Gray will still be popular for those who prefer to go stealth, these new colors pack a brighter, more vibrant punch for 2019".

First introduced in 1964, the Ford Mustang was quickly submitted to a wide variety of mechanical and styling modifications.
