Spotify's New Feature Will Let Users Edit Song Information

All desktop Spotify users can access the Line-In tool by clicking the three dots next to an Artist, Album, or Song and selecting Suggest an Edit.

Apple, Spotify, Google and other services charge $9.99 a month for music. "We've also seen that listeners are eager to describe the music they're passionate about in ways beyond traditional concepts like genre and mood".

On its Frequently Asked Questions about the feature, it says, "There are often times when a track is misspelled or contains extra messy information".

It's worth noting that Spotify treats all these data submissions as suggestions; users don't have the ability to directly edit the metadata for music in Spotify's catalog. The company explained, "Spotify considers the source, and thoroughly reviews and checks the accuracy of this information, before the suggestions are folded into the data that powers our services".


Music streaming company Spotify Technology S.A. has launched its service in Israel on Monday at a press conference in Tel Aviv.

Apple's Apple Music streaming service, which has been No. 2 in USA subscribers behind Spotify AB, is quickly gaining ground against its rival and may overtake it this summer. As it stands now, Spotify currently boasts more than 70 million paying subscribers and more than 159 million active users, the majority of which take advantage of the company's ad-supported tier.
