Blaine schools closed due to a threat

Police said they would release more information soon.

UPDATE: There will be no school district wide today for Dubuque Community Schools today.

All Blaine schools are cancelled Friday, February 23, after the district received an email threat that also surfaced at other schools around the state and country.

"Late this evening, there have been widespread reports on social media regarding an alleged threat of a possible shooting at Dubuque Senior High School on Friday".

In response to the threat, leaders at St. Francis Area Schools chose to cancel all classes and evening activities on Friday.

In a Twitter posting, officials at Bremerton High said the unverified threat "is now being investigated by the law enforcement".

They expect school to be back in normal session on Monday. School officials are in close contact with Dubuque Police regarding the situation.
