Pence slams Joy Behar, ABC News over 'religious intolerance'

"That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct, hearing voices", Behar declared.

Former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman made headlines when she made a few nasty comments about Vice President Mike Pence's "extreme" faith, saying that if Pence ever became president, people would be "begging" for Trump. "Everybody that's wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life", she said in the clip.

Joy Behar said, "It's one thing to talk to Jesus".

"It is just simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance", Mr. Pence said Wednesday during an Axios event in Washington.

"An overwhelming major of Americans cherish their faith, and we have all different types of faith in this country", Pence said. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you.

Referring to Pence's previous comments that he won't be alone with a woman without his wife present, Behar said, "My question is, can he talk to Mary Magdalene when his wife isn't in the room?" "It's an insult not to me, but to the vast majority of Americans, who like me, cherish their faith". "Omarosa said she wanted to sleep with Piers Morgan for ratings and then called him gay when he denied her". "I don't think he's that insane. Jesus talks back. What concerns me is how long is the conversation with Jesus".

Later on Tuesday's program, Behar backtracked slightly - but held firm to her belief that listening to Jesus is odd behavior.

"Say what you will about Mike Pence and his religiosity, I don't think that he's mentally ill, even though he's hearing voices".

Fox News commentator Jesse Watters also offered his take on the matter this morning, pointing out that Democrats like Behar are "okay with Reverend [Jeremiah] Wright speaking to Barack Obama, but they don't want Jesus talking to Mike Pence". He added that he believes if Behar and other left-wing figures want to ridicule people of faith that Trump would not only be re-elected in 2020 but that Pence would be elected president in 2024. I don't think he's that insane. "That's why I think he would be better".
