Pence did not stand for Korean delegation at Olympics opening ceremonies

The 23rd Winter Olympics in South Korea's eastern county of Pyeongchang had generated great interest as the world awaits to see if the leaders of the two Koreas meet at the opening ceremony of the games on Friday or after. "Their treatment of Otto is their standard, that's the way they do business", he said.

Kim Yo Jong, the first member of the North's ruling dynasty to venture South since the Korean War, forms part of the highest level delegation ever to cross the border.

Multiple segments on the Fox News morning show took aim at outlets like The Washington Post and CNN, which pointed out similarities between Ivanka Trump and Kim Yo Jong.

"We will not allow North Korean propaganda to hijack the message and imagery of the Olympic Games", he said in Japan earlier this week.

"Spectators broke into cheers and applause" when the North and South Korean athletes entered the arena together behind a unification flag, it added.

South Korea today investigated a mysterious Internet shutdown during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony, which follows warnings of possible cyberattacks during the Pyeongchang Games.

It's the final stop on a six-day trip that Pence had hoped would increase pressure on North Korea as it seeks to use the games to pursue an opening with the South.

A senior US official said Pence and Moon, while watching speed skating together on Saturday night, discussed intensifying sanctions.

Even Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has shared the American skepticism of warming North-South relations and pressed Moon against falling for the North's "smile diplomacy", greeted Kim Yong Nam.

An encounter between the pair has been mooted, but Mr Kim but said the United States had not requested a meeting. Of course, if North Korea moves forward with new provocations - such as missile or nuclear tests - all bets are off.

The vice president's visit was also marked by bad blood between Pence and some US athletes.

Moon has invited Kim and other senior North Korean officials to a luncheon at Seoul's presidential palace on Saturday.

A high-level North Korean delegation including leader Kim Jong Un's sister has arrived at a train station in Pyeongchang hours ahead of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

The North Koreans might want South Korea and the United States to make concessions if they accede to this basic framework, such as delaying the U.S.

Sources told CNN that sending ceremonial head of state Kim Yong Nam and Kim's sibling reads as more of a symbolic act than any concrete diplomatic initiative by North Korea.

They were also not able to get close to the VIP area, where US Vice-President Mike Pence and the real Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong were in attendance.

In October 2007, then South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun met with DPRK leader Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang, marking the second summit between the two Koreas since 2000.

But the Kim impersonator, who goes by the stage name of Howard X, insisted they had not been ejected from the stadium, merely escorted back to their correct seats.

South Korean activists burned the North's flag on Sunday near a theatre where Kim Jong-un's sister and the South's President were to watch a Northern musical display in the culmination of their Olympic rapprochement.

Other members of the North Korean delegation present at Saturday's meeting included Ri Son Gwon, who led the first sit-down talks at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) earlier this year, and Choe Hwi.
