Marco Belinelli commits to Sixers after buyout from Hawks


Several contenders are expected to be interested in Belinelli once he clears waivers.

Belinelli, the 2014 three-point shootout champion, would give the Warriors some much needed shooting off the bench. Over his 11 years in the National Basketball Association, the 31-year-old veteran is shooting 42.4 percent overall and 37.1 percent from beyond the arc. Belinelli, 31, was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. He was making just north of $6.5 million this season.

In 696 career contests (217 starts), he's put up 9.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 23.1 minutes (.423 FG%,.377 3FG%,.840 FT%). Once the deadline passed and Belinelli hadn't moved anywhere, the Sixers became a logical destination if he was released.Belinelli, in his 11th National Basketball Association season, is a career 37.7 percent shooter on three-pointers and was making 37.2 percent of his threes this season with the Hawks.
