The Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday continued their slugfest with the former dubbing the 27-page status report - on Central aid to Andhra Pradesh - publicised by the BJP as a "cinema script or fiction document".

"Along with this, the Centre will bear all the revenue deficit of the entire period of the 14 Finance Commission, a total of ₹22, 113 crores to be paid to Andhra Pradesh for the five year period", the MP added.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday called upon all political parties to unite over the issue of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh.


The Lok Sabha adjourned on Friday for almost a month-long recess amid unrelenting protests by Andhra Pradesh MPs demanding more central assistance for the state and Congress members raising questions about the Rafale aircraft deal.

In a statement submitted to the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Yanamala Ramakrishnudu stated that a sum of Rs 3,217.63 crore is yet to be released by the Centre for the Polavaram project. "I am fully concerned and committed to the development of the State", Haribabu asserted.Union Minister of State for Power, RK Singh, who was in the city on Sunday, said what the Centre had given AP in the last three-and-a-half years, no other state had got since Independence. "It's time for all parties to unite on this issue and support this call for justice", Gandhi said in a tweet.

Hari Babu said that the BJP is fully committed to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and it is honest to implement it. The party also maintained that it will launch protest if its demands are not fulfilled. Congress' KVP Ramachandra Rao walked into the Well of the House holding a banner that read: "Implement Special Category Status, Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, assurance given by PM on 20.02.2014".
