Mourinho 'confused' by debate over Pogba's position

On Monday, former United captain Wayne Rooney described Pogba as a "classic box-to-box player" who can "do a bit of everything really well if he has that freedom where he doesn't have to think too much about his defensive role".

"I had a few laughing over the past week because I heard and watched, read a few things, and I'm not English but I think I understand English enough when you want to say box to box", Mourinho a news conference on Friday.

Now in second place and trailing runaway leaders Manchester City by a massive 13 points, the Red Devils' most realistic chances of silverware would be the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

"I got a little bit confused because for me "box to box" means you have to be good in this box, and you have to be good in that box". For me box to box means (gestures) box to box. I've never had a single problem with him.

He hopes to end that hoodoo this time out against old rival Rafael Benitez, whom he evidently believes is more than capable of preventing last season's Championship winners from making an instant return to the second tier after a busy end to the January transfer window in which they loaned a trio of new players in Chelsea winger Kenedy, Leicester City striker Islam Slimani and Sparta Prague goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

He joins Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the injured list, with Jose Mourinho hopeful the latter duo will be fit before the end of February, per David McDonnell at the Mirror.

"The squad is good, everything is fine". Zlatan started training with the team two days ago, so two days with the group and he is improving.

"For me, he is a midfield player and that's it". The Belgian midfielder is expected to return in six to eight weeks.

Manchester United will be looking to cement their position in second place with another win when they take on Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday. However, that could change this weekend with Newcastle struggling for wins and points. He works well, he's a good professional He likes to train.
