Reuters/Dado RuvicSnapchat users were outraged after an update caused the Snapchat template to be "extremely difficult" to navigate and use.
When you install the update, Snapchat will be split in two.
Users started a petition to urge Snapchat's parent company, Snap Inc., to revert the app, "Back to the basics".
However, once the update has settled, things are expected to return to normal as users settle into the new way of things.
"With the release of the new Snapchat update, many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more hard", the Australian petition, which has garnered more than 66,000 signatures as of Thursday afternoon, reads.
Spiegel also noted that when the redesign was first released, it could take some time for the app, "To learn the best way to display your Friends", in the app. Users who have updated Snapchat have described it as disgusting, lousy, stupid, and twisted.
Even Kylie Jenner, known as the Snapchatting queen, said she has mixed emotions about the update. Meanwhile, swiping right from the Camera screen will bring you to Discover, which now has a full-screen, vertically-scrolling layout.
There are many comments and statements that bash the new Snapchat update, but the users will just have to get used and enjoy whatever the company made for them.
Anticipating the shitstorm that accompanies every social media update, a spokesperson from Snapchat said: "Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in".
"I deleted the app. Redownloaded it, said I forgot my password, reset it, logged back in - bam, old version lol", Ali Ramos wrote on Facebook.
Now, plug your device into a PC, then - using Windows Explorer (File Explorer) - drop the older APK file into a new folder or the Download folder.
If your app doesn't automatically update, head to either the App Store (for Apple devices) or Play Store (for Android devices), and install the update from there. Go to the Applications tab, select Apps in the sidebar, and find Snapchat in the Apps List. Turn the "Apps" one to off and, if you want to be doubly sure, "Updates" as well. As long as it's an older version, you'll be able to get rid of the new Snapchat. The version you just installed on your iPhone via iTunes will likely be the older version.
"People that you may never Snapchat are now right at the top, making it hard to find the people who you do Snapchat", petitioner Emily Andrews from Roanoke, Va.
