Predicted Spurs XI to face Newport County in the FA Cup

Spurs travel to Rochdale on February 18 for the next round of the FA Cup, facing another lower league team whose pitch, like Newport's, is in an unsavoury condition.

The Spurs boss had claimed after his side's draw with Liverpool that football is about attempting to "trick your opponent", with numerous Spurs players drawing criticism for perceived simulation at Anfield. "No doubt", Pochettino said after the game. "I think his mentality is fantastic". But not only us.

The hosts were in total control once they took the lead and though Pochettino withdrew Son after an hour, he showed he was taking the challenge seriously by bringing Eriksen on in his place.

Asked if the pitch could be unsafe for the players, Pochettino said: "Yes but I think the opponent too, eh?"

The Argentina global, who last found the net for his club in September 2016, struck the second goal after defender Dan Butler's own goal to help Tottenham beat fourth-tier Newport in their fourth round replay at Wembley.

A statement from the Hornets read: "Rochdale AFC have installed a dome-type pitch cover to dry the surface out to allow them to access to carry out vital drainage repairs which will involve a "drill and fill" technique to drain surface water". "In 2002, my vision about English football [was that] I didn't touch Michael Owen [in the England-Argentina World Cup clash] and he dived".

Asked if he would bring the chairman, whose birthday is on Thursday, a present, Pochettino said: "Yes!"

Tottenham booked their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

"If it's like the picture I have seen, then we can not play football. That is my point of view".

Mauricio Pochettino's men are set to travel to Rochdale in the 5th Round.

"I am very proud of the players". It is a massive risk for their players too.

"It was a good start in the first 25 minutes, but the manner of the goal, the way it went in, it took it out of the boys and deflated them", he said.

"Not because we are Tottenham - Rochdale I think too can not play there".

However, the FA believe that Rochdale have earned the right to play the game at home and want to give them the best possible chance of hosting the match. The FA does not think it meets the criteria for a venue switch - which happens only in the most extreme of circumstances.
