We got to drive the new Swift last month, and you can watch our first drive review below. Built on a completely new platform: the modern and lighter Heartect, the new Swift's construction is stronger and the structure is rigid.

For the first time, Swift offers the auto gear shift technology for the convenience of customers. The flat-bottom wheels give a sporty look to the auto while the dual-pod instrument cluster appears premium. "Since its launch in 2005, Swift has been the country's favourite hatchback, selling more than 1.8 million units", Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, MSIL, said here at the launch.

The new Suzuki Swift auto has brought upgradation in its acceleration performance. The petrol option will have a 1.2-litre engine, while the diesel variants will have a 1.3-litre engine.

On safety, the all-new Swift embodies Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) for occupant protection and complies with frontal offset and side impact regulations and meets advanced regulations for pedestrian safety, claims the automaker. The petrol engine is good for 82bhp of max power and 113Nm of max torque.

The company's sales of compact vehicles, which include the Swift, have risen 26.9% in the latest quarter from a year earlier. The automatic technology delivers better fuel efficiency as well as hassle-free driving. The new Swift now comes equipped with dual airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist and ISOFIX child seat restraints as standard across all the variants.

Maruti Suzuki will launch six variants each with petrol and diesel options. It has been priced at Rs 4.99 Lakhs. The diesel range begins from ₹5.99 lakh to ₹8.29 lakh and all the prices are introductory. The VDi AGS will be available at Rs 7.34 lakh and ZDi AGS will be sold for Rs 7.96 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). "I am confident that with the all-new Swift, we will be successful to capture the imagination of our customers and offer the vehicle which meets their demands", Ayuka added. The 2018 Maruti Swift is available in a total of four trims and 12 variants.
