Fleming named Chennai Super Kings coach

Chennai: The under-fire Indian Test team got Friday the backing of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who said there are quite a few positives to pick despite the drubbing handed out by South Africa - the prominent one being the bowlers' performance. Dhoni went on to say that Chennai is his second home and he has a lot of emotions attached to it. Appearing in his first promotional event since the return of Chennai Super Kings from a two-year suspension, Dhoni's 30-minute media interaction was marked by candid answers. Dhoni, especially insisted that they will go for Ravichandran Ashwin and want him in the team at any cost as he is the local boy. As far as the team composition is concerned, we had three retainerships. "We will try to get him", he said. The two-time IPL champions have been one of the most successful teams in IPL history; the MS Dhoni-led side captured the imagination of fans all over the world. In the past, we have seen a lot of teams target former CSK players. We are back to cricket and the fact that we sold off everything (whatever the endorsement brackets were there) even before the retainership was announced....that proves that they believe in CSK as a franchise and the kind of cricket we play.

"We will definitely go for him (Ashwin) in the auction. We will have to buy him out in the auction", he added.

Since the Super Kings have retained three Indian players, they can not use a Right to Match (RTM) card for Ashwin during the auction. "We want a lot of local players in CSK", said Dhoni. "It's a true reflection of the confidence the brands have in CSK as a franchise", said Dhoni. We have two RTMs. The fans over here (Chennai) have literally adopted me, they accept me as their own.

Mr Dhoni emphasised that although he has been approached by other franchises, CSK is close to his heart and he can't think of not playing for them. We don't have to go for more left-handers, as a lot of areas is covered. Meiyappan, the former Team Principal of CSK, and Kundra, co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals, were suspended for life for indulging in betting and bringing the IPL and the game into disrepute. We may desperately need someone, but if his price goes beyond a certain figure, I don't think we can afford it. We have taken 20 wickets. "But we will have to wait and watch".
