Fired-up Arsenal are on revenge mission: Wenger

Arsenal have lost the last three Premier League meetings - they haven't lost four in a row against Liverpool since May 1998.

It was the pace and adventure of Liverpool that undid Arsenal in August, and worryingly for the Gunners, the defensive frailties have been apparent several times subsequently.

However, Francis Coquelin is available after shaking off a minor knock and Shkodran Mustafi is back in contention after recovering from a thigh injury.

Arsenal entertain Liverpool at the Emirates this evening with both teams desperate to give their top four chances a major boost.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has admitted that it is hard to explain why his team did not beat Arsenal in Friday's Premier League clash at the Emirates. "But for me the most important is that we turn up with a positive performance".

"Against us most of the time Giroud played from the beginning, so that says a little bit about the style of Arsenal they have chosen against us very often", Klopp said.

Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah put the visitors two goals up before a three-goal flourish, starting in the 53rd minute, from Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil put Arsenal ahead. I know we usually need four or something like that.

Arsenal have been in slightly improved form in recent weeks, with the Gunners having secured their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over West Ham United at The Emirates. It's Arsenal and they have quite a talented group there! They'll be hopeful of three points for their side and handshakes after, but of course that hasn't stopped fans bickering and making fun of the situation on social media.

The Germany global has not featured for the Gunners since limping out of the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the beginning of December but is available for Friday's clash in north London, with Arsenal eager to avenge a 4-0 defeat on Merseyside in August.

Jurgen Klopp's team have scored an unsurpassed 24 away goals in the division this season, level with Manchester City.

- Liverpool unbeaten run extended to 13 games.
