Nintendo Switch Sold-Through 1.5 Million Units This December In USA

Ninty has followed up on Microsoft's revelation that Switch was the best-selling video games console in the USA last month, confirming it shifted 1.5 million hardware units during December 2017. The Switch has also gone on to become the fastest-selling console in USA history. In total, the Switch has shipped more than 4.8 million units in the United States since its March 3rd launch.

Over the holiday season, shoppers purchased 1.5M Nintendo Switch systems during the five-week reporting period of December. Collectively, the different versions of Nintendo 3DS hardware sold more than 750,000 units in the December, a 27 percent increase over the same period a year ago.

While most of the attention Nintendo gets these days involves the Switch (and that system's recently revealed DIY cardboard toy controllers), the Nintendo 3DS platform is still killing it. Nintendo announced today that the 3DS family of systems just had its best month of sales since December 2014.

Nintendo has released numbers confirming December 2017 as their biggest hardware sales month in seven years in the United States.

These titles were: Super Mario Odyssey in third; Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in fourth; The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at came in ninth; and Splatoon 2 at number 16. Additionally, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon for Nintendo 3DS finished No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.

It seems like there may still be some room for the Nintendo 3DS after all.
