While various versions of what and who caused the split have been in the press ever since, Cabello said in a new interview that she didn't want to leave the group - and that she was essentially given an ultimatum. Fans suspected it had to do with her solo projects causing conflict with her Fifth Harmony bandmates, and now Camila is pretty much confirming that's the case. "It definitely hurt my feelings", she told The New York Times. "Today's the first day where I can really just enjoy it, and I can enjoy it being out".
Camila claims the solo project caused tension in the group and when she asked to help write lyrics for Fifth Harmony songs after that, she was rebuffed. "After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representative that Camila has made a decision to leave Fifth Harmony".
"I just love that attitude, there's a vibrance here that makes me feel good".
The star previously opened up about what she felt at the time, saying: 'I was not prepared for it - especially because at that point I had moved on from it'. "I don't like holding onto the past, especially when it's stuff that, in my opinion, is just petty", she added. This past Friday, Cabello released her brand new album Camila along with a very special song featuring the music production from DJ and producer, Skrillex.
Less than 24 hours after its January 12 release, Camila soared to the top of iTunes' charts around the globe.
There is no doubt that Camila Cabello is about to reach stratospheric new heights in 2018 and we can't wait to see her continue to flourish as an artist.
