While many in Hollywood and beyond applauded Winfrey's speech at the Golden Globes this past Sunday, the "Fly Like an Eagle" singer joined the chorus of those branding her a hypocrite over the situation with Harvey Weinstein. The mother-of-one commented on the meme he posted to his 113k Instagram followers, writing, "Hmm".
"Oh I forgot, that's right....", Seal added in the caption, "you'd heard the [rumors] but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young [starry]-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into".
"He included the hashtag: "#SanctimoniousHollywood".
Seal's post criticizing Winfrey follows her recent appearance at the 75th Annual Golden Globes, where she was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award. "Let's just say we've all heard things about each other, haven't we?" "Their time is up", Winfrey said. "I've been processing the accounts of Harvey Weinstein's disgusting behaviour and haven't been able to find the words to articulate the magnitude of the situation". In her speech, Oprah declared that "a new day is on the horizon" for women and girls, and called for a time "when nobody ever has to say "me too" again".
Sir...what? A It was probably was in Harvey's best interest to keep his alleged disgusting behavior from Oprah because he was always going to need her before she ever needed him.
Soon after Harvey Weinstein was discovered to be a Hollywood predator, the industry began purging itself of men accused of various levels of sexual misconduct.
Weinstein continues to deny all the allegations against him.
