"The intrusion took place at the same location where a standoff broke off not too long ago between the Chinese and Indian militaries".

China and India will resume suspended border talks soon, with top Chinese diplomats set for their first fence-mending visits to India since the military stand-off near the desolate Himalayan frontier.

Beijing had lodged a diplomatic protest with India over the violation of its territorial sovereignty.

"The Donglang border row will have a lasting impact on the regional geopolitical landscape, with India upping the ante to act as a counterweight to balance China and promote its own global standing", he said.

Despite tensions between the two countries, there is no general ban on Chinese products in India, nor of Indian products in China.

Beijing often referred to the 1890 Britain-China treaty during the lengthy Dokalam standoff, stating that it has defined the Sikkim section of the boundary with Tibet, therefore the border in that area has been settled.

"India's move has infringed upon China's territorial sovereignty and we are strongly dissatisfied with and opposed to this".

He said China's border defense forces conducted "an inspection of the device", but didn't elaborate. According to the reports, the drone has crossed the LoC at Sikkim.

India, for its part, said the drone was on a regular training mission over its territory but had lost contact with ground control due to a technical failure. "We will earnestly carry out our duty and resolutely defend our country's sovereignty and security".

Geng declined to reveal the details of the drone. "And Chinese side along the border line is Chinese territory", spokesman Geng Shuang said.

Asked if the incident will have a negative impact on the bilateral meet, Geng said: "I think Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit's goal is to attend the foreign ministers' meeting".

Anand said Indian border security personnel immediately alerted their Chinese counterparts and said India was investigating the exact cause of the incident.
