Xiaomi Redmi 5 and 5 Plus released, here's its availability info

Major Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi just announced its two newest affordable troopers, the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus. Meanwhile, the larger Redmi 5 Plus is going for 999CNY (RM617) for 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 1,299CNY (RM802) for 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The phone will be available on 12th December in China. So far, leaks have suggested that the Redmi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch HD+ display with 720 x 1440 resolutions.

As the name suggests, the Redmi 5 Plus comes with a larger 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Redmi 5 is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery, while the 5 Plus gets a 4,000 mAh battery which brings it on par with the now available Redmi Note 4, until the Note 5 makes its debut. It has 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB internal storage which is expandable to 128GB via micro sd card slot.The fingerprint sensor is placed at the rear of the device. This entire package is backed by a 3300mAh battery. The Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. While the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 PLus share a number of similarities, they are also quite different.


The entry-level "Desh Ka Smartphone", Xiaomi Redmi 5A, was initially launched in India on December 30. Having said that, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are budget phones, and they differ in terms of specs, despite the fact they sport the same design. The handset sits on the 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon SoC based on 14nm FinFET technology and Adreno 506 GPU.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 starts at 799 yuan which is about £90 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB, or around £100 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage.

The remaining features remain the same for Redmi 5 as well as the Redmi 5 Plus. The phones have an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyro, hall sensor, and a proximity sensor. You can pick from 3GB RAM and 32GB storage options, or 4GB RAM and 64GB storage combo. The mobiles run organization's MIUI 9 programming. The Redmi 5 Plus is priced at RMB 999 (Rs 9,700 approximately) and RMB 1,299 (Rs 12,700 approximately). Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS + GLONASS. However, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, on the flip side, will come with Snapdragon 625 SoC on board.
