Toys for Tots drive underway

The Mike's Carwash in Evansville raised more than $1,700 for the local Toys for Tots campaign.

Since older kids' needs often are overlooked, please consider donating for those ages 12 to 18.

The Toys for Tots drive continues until December 21.

Among the families getting donations this year is that of Linda Sanchez. The program reaches 792 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. She said she took over the coordinator's role in the county four years ago as a way to help others.

"It's just the spirit of Christmas giving and the spirit of sharing. and we are so fortunate and blessed the resources that we have, you can't pass up the opportunity to share that with others", Barbara Kaucd of Agawam said. Sannes said the goal is to give more than 8,000 toys to underprivileged children in Nash and Edgecombe counties.

Toy drop off boxes set up in various areas of the Black Hills including places such as Books-A-Million, Toys R Us, United Methodist Church to name a few.

You can always drop off toys or donations at any time to the Toys for Tots headquarters at Beckley Auto Mall.

Toys for Tots collects new toys and distributes them as Christmas gifts to children in need.
