Overwatch's Winter Wonderland event returns next week with many Meis

But, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan says a long-awaited Hanzo skin people have seen before (maybe in the comics) is on the way.

Blizzard has announced the return of the Winter Wonderland event, which means more holiday-themed fun, skins, and the revenge of Mei's Snowball Offensive. As happened a year ago, the winter holiday event, Overwatch Winter Wonderland will also take place this month, bringing a new PvE mode, new skins, and cosmetics for all Overwatch Heroes.

Aside from cosmetics, Mei's Snowball Offensive will also return from past year, which pits two teams of Meis against each other in a snowball fight-style conflict. So this is something you can do for now to mix up your Overwatch action - and then you can start counting down the days until the next Winter Wonderland event. Roadhog and Junkrat are also getting new Legendary skins.

The newest Winter Wonderland seasonal mode is called Mei's Yeti Hunt, and it's Overwatch's first attempt at a 5v1 boss fight.

Several maps will also get a Winter facelift, namely King's Row, Hanamura and Black Forest. Essentially, it boils down to 5 Mei players taking on resident big lad Winston, who also happens to be player controlled.

The latter features five Mei players trying to subdue a rather formidable Winston on the Nepal map. Once Winston has enough meat, his Primal Rage ultimate will activate, sending him into a monstrous fury. When the Yeti is defeated, the group of Meis wins, whereas if a certain number of Meis die, the Winston player wins. Meis can flee and regroup with the aid of ice walls and ice traps.

"I know a lot of you are thinking that this sounds kinda silly and kinda ridiculous", Kaplan said in his video to the Overwatch community.
