DOJ: Nearly $7 Million Spent on Russia Probe in 5 Months

Trump wrote on Twitter. Both reports said Mueller issued the subpoena several weeks ago.

Though Mueller's investigation is not yet a year old, his team of prosecutors have made significant moves. Starr's predecessor, Robert Fiske, spent an additional $6 million investigating the Clintons' involvement in the Whitewater real estate deal, according to a May 1999 GAO report.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton told the Daily Caller the anti-Trump text messages of Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok "should be responsive" to the lawsuit, meaning the messages fit the description of the documents the lawsuit seeks to obtain and are expected to be included in the batch produced by the Justice Department.

Deutsche Bank declined the demands for records, stating that it could not share Trump's information - or any other clients' data - as without a formal demand from an institution of authority sharing data would be illegal and unscrupulous. Trump has denied any wrongdoing.

Mueller is investigating whether the Trump campaign helped Russian Federation in the Kremlin's efforts to interfere in the election to throw it to Trump.

On Friday, Mueller revealed a guilty plea by Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, who admitted lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents.

Two other campaign officials, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his associate Richard Gates, also face charges in the investigation.

Trump's relationship with Deutsche Bank stretches back some two decades and the roughly $300 million he owed to the bank represented almost half of his outstanding debt, according to a July 2016 analysis by Bloomberg.

Trump borrowed $640 million in 2005 from the bank to build Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago. He also has two mortgages against his Trump National Doral Miami resort and a loan against his tower in Chicago.

Deutsche Bank has repeatedly dismissed demands from Democratic lawmakers and leaders to offer transparency on the nature of its dealings and relationship with Trump.

"It is no slur against Mr. Mueller's integrity to say that he lacks the critical distance to conduct a credible probe of the bureau he ran for a dozen years", the editorial said.

In June, Ruddy told CNN's Chris Cuomo he thought the President was considering firing Mueller.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has called for an investigation into the matter. In particular, Trump hailed the news that one of Mueller's aides had been removed from his job over the summer for some anti-Trump text messages.
