Dead and Company postpone Thursday's Orlando concert after John Mayer's emergency appendectomy

Yesterday afternoon, Dead & Company were forced to postpone that night's show in New Orleans due to an emergency appendectomy surgery for John Mayer. "Had surgery yesterday and woke up to see some amazingly kind and loving tweets", Mayer said. "This band and these shows mean the world to me", he concluded.

Mayer is recovering from an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday. "Love you all dearly". The shows will be rescheduled.

Dead & Company with John Mayer has postponed its final three concerts including the South Florida performance.

The ailment was apparently unexpected, as 11 hours before Dead & Company posted their statement, Mayer was tweeting about, of all things, copyediting.

The band features former members of '60s psychedelic folk heroes The Grateful Dead including Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, plus other musicians such as Mayer and bassist Oteil Burbridge. The new date will be announced as soon as possible, according to Amway Center officials. "Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at the point of purchase". "John is so disappointed the show can't happen next Tuesday, but this is not a cancellation - it's a rescheduling".
