One child killed, 22 hospitalized after Georgia school bus accident


One child was killed and several were injured in a Tuesday morning school bus crash in Liberty County, Georgia.

The accident happened about 7 the Gumbranch area of Liberty County along Highway 196 and Hiram Ray Road, according to WTOC television station.

"We don't know why all of the sudden the bus left the roadway", King said.

GSP says the crash remains under investigation.

The lone victim to die in the crash was identified as Cambria Shuman, 5, FOX 28 reported. The driver, Evelyn Rodriguez, 62, was taken to Memorial Health in Savannah. The impact caused the bus roof to cave in on the young passengers.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a school bus crashed into a tree in Liberty County, Georgia. Troopers said that it was a single-vehicle crash as the bus hit a tree in a dtich.

The bus driver is still entrapped in the bus at this time.
