Kusal Perera back in Sri Lanka ODI squad

Sri Lanka and India play ODIs games between December 10 and 17 in Dharmasala, Mohali and Visakhapatnam.

Sri Lanka have lost 21 one-dayers in the calendar year and won only four matches.

Ahead of the third Test against India in New Delhi, left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara was chosen to go in as replacement for veteran Rangana Herath, but the sports ministry refused to endorse his selection as he had failed the fitness test. However, the contest is marred by air pollution issues as the visitors wore masks while playing. The team was to play a 3-match series against India, beginning from December 10. "They have now received the necessary clearance and will leave for India tonight", Sri Lanka's Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said. Thisara Perera was appointed as the ODI captain and current Test skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who is playing in India, was dropped.

Squad: Thisara Perera (captain), Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne, Niroshan Dickwella (wicketkeeper), Chaturanga de Silva, Akila Dananjaya, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya De Silva, Dushmantha Chameera, Sachith Pathirana, Kusal Perera.

A "Cricbuzz" report said the players were already in the airport and one of them had even boarded the flight.

"Most players reached the airport around 9pm on Monday".

However, Kusal Perera and all-rounder Asela Gunaratne have returned to the one-day global squad for the series against India.

In Sri Lanka, all the teams, be it cricket, or other sports, are required to get a clearance from the ministry, as per their sports law.
