Honor 7X U.S. release date, specs aim to take on OnePlus

Huawei's sub-brand Honor has launched the Honor 7X in India at a starting price of Rs 12,999. The smartphone, which delivers full-screen viewing experience, will retail at AED 999.

Optics wise, the Honor 7X features dual rear camera setup. Honor 7X is powered by Kirin 659 CPU and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone will be available on Amazon.in and Honor online store from 7th December. Now that 2-megapixel shooter is not going to actually take the photos for you, what it does is it grabs depth information, making it very useful for portrait mode shots or macro shots.

Our take: Huawei is positioning the Honor View 10 as the "first affordable AI-enabled smartphone", and while the benefits of AI in the near-term remain to be seen, what's certain is the fact that the Honor View 10 stands on its own merits - mostly. There are no stereo speakers or other shenanigans, but at half the price of the 10 Pro, the V10 maybe one of the best value for money phones you will be able to get in the U.S. next month, when the phone will be released at this side of the pond.

The Honor 7X comes with the Honor 8 Pro like all-screen design, though not bezel-less, Huawei claims that the 82.9% screen-to-body ratio on the 7X is the highest in the $199 price segment.

While we're tempering excitement with caution, the 7X undoubtedly looks like one of the best possible new devices you can get for $200, especially as the new Redmi devices are yet to be launched.

The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system wrapped under EMUI 8.0.

The classic metal design of the Honor 7X is a delight to hold, with its perfectly rounded edges. It supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS / GLONASS.

Let's get down to the pricing and availability for the Honor 7X. It bears a fingerprint sensor on the home button. The Honor View10 comes powered by the top-tier Kirin 970 SoC mated to 6GB of RAM.

"Additionally, Honor is immensely proud of the quality control it undertakes in producing every phone".

Zhao revealed that Honor, "is becoming a real global brand", and will be focusing on fast-growing markets outside of China such as Russia, India and Turkey. On the front, the device sports a 13MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture. It boasts black, blue, and gold color variants. The set price is Euro 499.9 /449.99 GBP for those, which in the USA would likely translate to $499, placing it in a direct clash with the OnePlus 5T.
