It has a major 11.x update with several new features and bug fixes.
Apple has released iOS 11.2 beta 6 to developers for testing. This was expected as you may recall reports earlier that found that toggling off the radios via the revamped Control Center would not completely disable them, but keep them active in the background to allow users to connect their iPhone or iPad for AirDrop, AirPlay, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch, Hotspot, among others.
The new iOS 11.2 software is here, we just saw some videos of the latest version of iOS versus the previous one. Apple pushed iOS 11.2 ahead of schedule on December 2 to fix a bug that caused iPhones to crash and reboot after the clock struck 12:15am.
The bug affected phones that used apps with a notification feature such as Workout or medical apps. Apple Pay Cash will be available on the Messages app, allowing iPhone users in the U.S. to send money through iMessage.
The update improves stability in Calendar, resolves an issue where Settings could open to a blank screen and fixes an issue that could prevent swiping to Today View or Camera from the Lock Screen. Apart from this, the update also brings faster 7.5W wireless charging support for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X through Qi-based wireless charging pads. The update adds support in Podcasts to automatically advance to the next episode from the same show, and real-time text (RTT) phone calls for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The update improves video camera stabilization.
You can download the iOS 11.2 update on iPhone 5s and above models, iPad Air and above models, iPad mini 2 and above models, or the sixth-generation iPod touch. You can install the update on your device by going to Settings General Software Update. Despite the waning popularity of jailbreaking, hackers have been making progress opening up the iOS 11 so an iOS 11.2 jailbreak might be available soon.
