The city and its people are close to Harry's heart, with the visit his third public trip there since October past year.
A heavy police presence welcomed the royal couple.
Sam also touched on Prince Harry's speech at the Attitude Awards this year, which saw him accept Attitude's Legacy Award on Princess Diana's behalf. The excitement kicked off Monday morning, when the couple officially announced their engagement.
"As long as they're happy, that's all that matters".
In mid-2016, several months before it was revealed Markle was dating a member of the Royal family, the actress was interviewed by United Kingdom television channel Dave.
She said: "I'm excited to really get to know more about the different communities here and smaller organisations that are working on the same causes that I've always been passionate about".
They are also set to meet with teachers from Nottingham Academy later in the day, along with local students and those involved in the Full Effect programme.
The prince and Ms Markle announced their engagement this week after an 18-month romance. Markle said she can't wait to meet the young people Prince Harry has spoken about.
