President Donald Trump highlighted how the USA military was "really winning" since he took office as he spoke to five branches of the military serving overseas via satellite on the occasion of Thanksgiving Day, the media reported.
Trump video-chatted with the troops from his Mar-a-Lago golf resort - President was spending the Thanksgiving holidays there to service members in five branches of the military, those troops stationed included stationed in Kuwait and on the USS Monterey.
Trump told service members there, "Everybody is talking about the progress you've made in the last few months since I opened it open". "We're being talked about again as an armed forces - we're really winning". "We totally support you, and, in fact, we love you". You weren't winning before. He added, "They want to hear, 'Hey, thanks, for what you're doing'". At one point in their conversation, Trump said the military was "winning" now, but they "weren't letting" them win before. "What a job you've done".
In the video teleconference, Trump went on about how people of the USA are talking about "the progress you've made in the last few months since I opened it up".
He said that deployed service members don't want to know "about the economy". Trump then referred to his administration's battle to pass a tax overhaul before the year's end, telling the troops that the cuts will be beneficial for the economy. "You're fighting for something real, you're fighting for something good". They were paid $1,274.94 for "field consulting", according to financial disclosure reports.
Following the phone call, Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited a Coast Guard station in Riviera Beach, Florida as part of their Thanksgiving celebrations. "What a job you've done", he said, referring to the Coast Guard's efforts in the responses to hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in recent months.
'There's no brand that went up more than the Coast Guard, ' he told them. What a job you've done, and thank you all very much.
