Jack Swagger signs with Bellator MMA

Jake Hager signed with the Bellator MMA group.

He is expected to make his MMA debut in 2018. He's getting a late start in the fighting game at age 35, but I am genuinely looking forward to seeing how he does. "I'm definitely like that".

Swagger made his announcement on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday, stating he'd compete in the promotion's heavyweight division. In 2006, he set the Oklahoma single-season record for most pins in a season, while he was named an All-American 129kg (285 pounds) weight category. He also won the Money in the Bank contract in 2010 and became world heavyweight champion when he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Chris Jericho in March 2010. Swagger has been working on the independent scene since departing WWE earlier this year.

Swagger has signed a six fight deal with Bellator, and is very happy with the arrangement.

"I wasn't allowed to really compete up there even though I felt I could take anyone in the locker room", Hager said.

Amusing enough, Hager's bracket in wrestling that year also featured future UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former Bellator champion Cole Konrad as well as current American Top Team wrestling coach Steve Mocco.
