Falcons' Devonta Freeman likely out for Week 11 vs. Seahawks

Even losing starting running back Devonta Freeman to a concussion early didn't stop Atlanta from running the ball well and taking shots downfield.

ESPN's Adam Schefter categorized Freeman as "unlikely" to play next week and reported it "would not be surprising" if he missed multiple contests.

The team late announced Freeman has a concussion and would not return to the game.

Sunday's concussion was his third with the Falcons.

The hit on Freeman by Anthony Hitchens appeared to be violent enough to cause a concussion on its own, and Freeman was noticeably dazed after that hit. Tevin Coleman is a good running back, but there's a reason Freeman became the highest-paid running back in the National Football League during the offseason.

Unfortunately, Freeman is all too familiar with concussion protocol. Prior to the win, Atlanta had lost four of its previous five games. nMatt Ryan and company will take on the Seahawks next Monday at 8:30 p.m.

Freeman made his second straight Pro Bowl last season, rushing for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Freeman is Atlanta's leading rusher with 515 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season.
