F1: Alonso sceptical of Q3 chances in Brazil after hard Friday

"I'll try to defend as much as I can even though tomorrow we expect a very sunny day and completely dry conditions, so it's not going to be easy to hold on to our position". "I will never forget today", the Brazilian said after being invited to the podium in a crowded Interlagos track in Sao Paulo.

"The energy that I felt today here, to make the best race I could". It's so unbelievable to finish the race and see the emotion of the people after such an fantastic race.

"The most frustrating thing is that I've been in Formula 1 for 10 years and every single year that has happened to somebody in the paddock, and it continues to happen", he said.

"I had an awesome start".

Williams driver Felipe Massa, of Brazil, steers his vehicle ahead of Force India driver Esteban Ocon, of France, on the first lap of the Brazilian Formula One Grand Prix at the Interlagos race track in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017. I had a very good last few corners and I could see when we pulled out of the last corner that he was quite far away. "By the way, I loved your start!"

"I'm happy for him".

"It was a very hard race for me".

Twelve months on from his tearful first farewell in the Interlagos pit lane, Massa will take part in what he says is his final Brazilian race this weekend (he was lured back from retirement to race one more year with Williams). I drove a flawless race from beginning to end, managed the tyres, managed everything around the auto, the pace I had. I knew past year I had so much love and emotion from the people but I didn't finish the race like I wanted.

"Today was definitely like a victory and to finish the race and feel the emotion of the people after such an unbelievable race". Today I finished like I wanted. I will try to defend from whatever guy is attacking me and hopefully we score points tomorrow.

"That's quite a good direction that we took and in Australia next year we will be a completely different team and we are looking forward".
