Denver Broncos special teams failing them early against Patriots

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett is active for Week 10 versus the Denver Broncos.

But he's been fourth on the depth chart of late, playing 13 snaps in each of the team's past three games and tapped mostly in short-yardage situations.

After being picked up on waivers just three days ago, Bennett will play on Sunday for the Patriots. The Patriots had activated those four, plus Gillislee, in their last game against the Chargers. He's the most replaceable of the four running backs and has no special teams value, so if a running back were to be inactive it had to be him. You can add kick returner Dion Lewis to that list, as he took a kickoff 103 yards to the house against the Denver Broncos in the first quarter on Sunday night.

The Patriots inactives also included receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder), offensive lineman Marcus Cannon (ankle), defensive back Eric Rowe, running back Mike Gillislee, defensive end Cassius Marsh, offensive lineman Cole Croston and defensive lineman Malcom Brown.

The Broncos' offense stepped up on the next series and it ended with a field goal.
