Argentina provide Barcelona with a Leo Messi boost

Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli has hailed the on-field understanding between Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero after the pair starred against World Cup hosts Russian Federation on Saturday afternoon.

"We want to reach the World Cup in the best way", Messi was quoted on the official Twitter handle of the Argentine Football Association on Saturday.

"We came here to play against a very disciplined and organised side", Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli said. It was only later when Driussi uploaded the snap of himself and Messi to his profile that the Barcelona superstar realised he hadn't had his photo taken with a supporter, but with a fellow player.

Aguero joined Hernan Crespo in third on the list of Argentina's all-time highest goalscorers with his effort, and Sampaoli was impressed with what he saw.

As a result, Barcelona do not have to worry about Leo Messi's workload this week, as he will return to Spain in the coming hours.

The stadium was destroyed in 2013 in order to be rebuilt to host the games of the 2018 World Cup.

If he can rediscover last season's form, maybe Driussi will be seeing Messi on a more regular basis, so the Barca star will never forget who he is, again.

Barcelona have a tough schedule immediately after the worldwide break with three away games.

The game hosted many huge events through history like the 1980 Summer Olympic games and 2008 UEFA Champions League final, when Manchester United defeated Chelsea on a penalty-shootout to win the title.
