Army foils fresh infiltration bid on LoC in Uri, two terrorists killed


Army on Sunday claimed that it killed two unidentified militants in an infiltration bid in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday. The terrorists, who tried to infiltrate on night of 04-05 Nov by exploiting hard terrain conditions along LC were intercepted by the alert Army troops on duty close to LC.

"On being challenged, the militants resorted to indiscriminate firing on the troops. Two militants were killed", he said.

The identity and the group affiliation of the slain militants could not be established immediately.

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said a possible tragedy was averted. Gunfights between militants and Indian troops take place intermittently across the region.

"BAT action bid foiled by Army and JKP".

An Army spokesman confirmed the deaths and said the operation is still ongoing. The LoC and IB in the State is being manned by the army and BSF men.

According to reports, army officials spotted suspicious movement near the fence early in the morning.
