Celtics Hayward Suffers Gruesome Injury in Season Opener


The NBA season tipped off on Tuesday night with the highly anticipated matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics.

Hayward was picked up in free agency this offseason by the Celtics.

He put his hands to his face and dropped back to the floor as a hush fell over the sellout crowd inside Quicken Loans Arena.

James is now dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in practice back on September 27, causing him to miss three of Cleveland's four exhibition games. Gordon Hayward was also given a standing ovation as he left the court.

The team later confirmed that Hawyard's ankle was broken. Dwayne Wade, who has been reunited with his close friend in Cleveland, said it may take some time for the Cavs to start clicking.
