Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil are expected to be available for selection following injury; but Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Olivier Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette have all been involved during the global break.

The manager sounded more optimistic about Koscielny, who was not called up by France for their qualifiers due to a strained Achilles, saying that the defender had trained on Thursday and could step in for Mustafi.

The Arsenal boss provided a glimmer of hope to Arsenal fans regarding Laurent Koscielny's return and revealed that the Frenchman will undergo a fitness test on Friday to determine his availability for Saturday. At the moment he is not available.

The minor problem we have is with Sead Kolasinac.

Alexis Sanchez will be assessed when he returns to London Colney tomorrow following his exploits with Chile but he should be okay to keep his place in the side.

'I didn't expect him to play and Germany had already qualified. Also throw in to the mix that Mertesacker is in his final year of football before retiring at the end of the season, so it would be very demanding both physically and mentally on the German to play all three of these upcoming games.

Silva said: "Tomorrow we will do the first session after he's back this afternoon". The centre-back will have a late fitness test this week to see whether he will be okay for the trip to Watford, which Wenger will be praying for some positive news on.

"That is my understanding (that he wants to stay). At the present time there is no deal close for me to announce".

Arsenal could be without seven first-team players for their clash against Watford on Saturday (14 October), which could derail their current unbeaten run in the Premier League.
