The Germany global is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to discuss terms with a foreign club once the transfer window reopens in January.
Ozil's representative Dr Erkut Sogut, however, suggested in quotes to Turkish media outlet Fanatik that the German could well be staying put.
"Ozil wants to play another 2-3 years in the Premier League", Sogut said. "Our contacts with Arsenal continue and are going in a positive way".
Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that defender Calum Chambers had signed a two-year contract extension.
The other way of looking at the statement would be to rule out a move to Catalan club Barca, with the likelihood that Man United would be leading the chase for him should we fail to agree terms with the former Real Madrid star.
If Alexis Sanchez is also convinced to sign a new contract, and with a few defensive additions in the January transfer window, Arsene Wenger may just have a team at his disposal that is capable of challenging for the Premier League title.
Ozil has not undergone contract negotiations with the Gunners since March, but could be set for a humiliating u-turn by the end of the season.
Will Ozil thrive without Alexis in the side next season?
